Sesame Noodles

Friday nights in our house are generally pretty busy. By the time I get home from work there is a short turn around time before running out the door again. Some nights I have just enough time to change my clothes and sprint out the door.

One of the first agreements Josh and I ever made to keep our relationship happy and for us to always be on time (in theory) was for Josh to be in charge of Shabbat. His school lets out early on Fridays so he has plenty of time to make dinner or whatever dish we are bringing to a friend's house. It works out pretty well and has brought our stress level around Shabbat way, way down. As small as this agreement is, I think it is the little compromises like this one that really help to make our marriage work.

This week, Josh borrowed our friend Stephanie's recipe for Sesame Noodles. I was pleasantly surprised when I came home from work. The house smelled great and we were ready go. PERFECT!

Ingredients
3/4 box thin spaghetti or rice noodle
1/3 cup sesame oil
1/4 cup soy sauce
3 tablespoon honey
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4-1/2 cup shelled edamame
chopped green onions
sesame seeds

Directions
1) Cook and drain the pasta.
2) Whisk together sesame oil, soy sauce, honey, and ginger. Should be slightly saltier than you want and have the consistency of salad dressing. Feel free to adjust to your liking.
3) Mix edamame and green onions into dressing (I like to save some to sprinkle on top at the end).
4) Place sauce in a bowl and put the pasta on top. Fold until well mixed.**
5) Sprinkle with sesame seeds and you are ready to serve.

**if you are preparing this in advance (more than a few hours) you may want to wait to add the sauce to the pasta. The pasta will absorb the sauce and you may need to add more**

Prepping the sauce

Throwing it all together

Testing out our fun new Asian inspired bowls. Thanks Enid and David!

Trust me, this tastes as good as it looks.
