Everywhere I look these days I see Chobani. At work, on TV, at the store. Everyone is raving about Greek yogurt, and not just any yogurt, Chobani. I finally caved and had to see what all of the fuss is all about.
When I came home from the store with 2 Chobani's for Josh and I to try, Josh was a little shocked. I am not a fan yogurt at all. I can't eat most yogurt that is made with fruit and plain yogurt never tastes as good as fruity yogurt. I also try to stay away from that much dairy, but like I said, Chobani is everywhere and I wanted to give it a whirl.
Josh tried his blueberry yogurt first. His review was pretty positive considering he too isn't a huge yogurt eater either. He said: "At first my stomach sunk because I saw that it was fruit on the bottom, and I really don't like fruit on the bottom. But when I tasted the yogurt it was delicious even though it had been fruit on the bottom."
I tried my vanilla Chobani next. I have to admit that I did not go into the taste test with an open mind. I was expecting not to like it. And at first I didn't. There was something about the texture and the flavor that I didn't love. But as I ate more and more of it, and mixed in raisins and granola, my opinion changed drastically. It was pretty tasty!
I am not sure if we are going to become a yogurt eating family, but if I do eat yogurt in the future, I would definitely go for Chobani again. And next time I will be armed with a better attitude and some mix-ins!
I love Chobani!! Especially with Bear Naked Granola.

I'm not a "fruit on the bottom" kind of yogurt-eater either, so I had the same attitude going in. My mind was quickly changed! Thanks so much for giving us a spoon. We're delighted you enjoyed our 'gurt!

ReplyDelete1 - Strawberry-banana Chobani with grapenuts mixed in for crunchiness
2 - Vanilla Chobani over sliced Granny Smith Apples drizzled with honey.

ReplyDeleteI first tried Greek yogurt a few months ago. I'm a huge fan of the no-sugar (contains aspartame), fat-free yogurt (like Axelrod). Since trying Chobani, I also make sure to try to keep some of it in my fridge, as well.
@David, #1 looks like it is right up my ally. I will be trying that very soon.
ReplyDelete@Jonathan, the protein is nuts! I was not full for a very long time after eating it, something I was not expecting.
IMHO: pineapple is the best, followed by peach -- the other flavors are all good with the exception of pomegranate -- not a fan of that one.
ReplyDeleteChobani is a blessing for yogurt eaters! Great flavors (especially the pineapple and peach), creay texture, and low enough in sugar calories that it's a better choice than those chemical-filled 100-calorie and lower varieties.

OMG, this stuff is like Crack! It is so good and I am totally addicted. Between me and my two year old daughter we go through 15 to 20 yogurts a week! I am now really looking forward to trying the flavors with toppings!
ReplyDeleteThe adults love it in our household, but our kids complain that it's "too tangy". So, now I buy two different kinds of yogurt, but it's well worth the extra effort. Our local store has been out of raspberry Chobani for over a week now (my hubby's favorite), so apparently lots of other people are enjoying it, too!

ReplyDeleteThe yogurt is great but make note that some flavors are non-fat and some have fat. I mean saturated fat and cholesterol. So really read the label before buying.

Anyone taken the time to check to see how much sugar is in the flavored yogurts? You might as well just eat a candy bar or a pile of cookies.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the comment about sugar content. I eat plain yogurt daily but cut up melon. Takes about 1 or 2 wks to get used to it but then you are hooked. It is a great breakfast (protein!). That being said, I have tried many different brands of yogurt and it is all about texture. I do like the Greek yogurts but they are more expensive. I love Market Basket brand plain yogurt.
